Message From the President

Season's greetings to you all. We look forward to welcoming you to our beaches over this busy summer holiday period. Whilst the club will be very active over the next six to eight weeks, I do remind you that we are a 52-week club. There's not a week that goes by without a skills course, competition, training or an information session being held, keeping all of our operational and competing members busy in our club.

The season has gotten off to a great start, with the last few weeks of patrols operating efficiently despite patchy weather. The bronze training was completed with great success, and by the time you read this, our SRC training will also have been completed. Over the last couple of months, our competition teams have swung into action with wonderful success by our boat crews at recent carnivals. Demonstrating our strong resurgence as a powerful force in surfboat rowing.

I hope that you have a happy family time over the next few weeks, and I look forward to seeing you around our busy club, which has many social activities planned for late December and right throughout January.

WWCC Compliance Checker - Your Feedback Matters

As part of the Working With Children Check Working Group, we’ve been collaborating with Life Saving Victoria (LSV) to help develop a new WWCC compliance checker and management tool.

What does this mean for you?

Point Lonsdale members’ WWCC details will now be automatically checked in bulk on a regular basis.

If your WWCC has expired, is nearing expiry, you’re turning 18, or your information doesn’t match, you’ll receive an email directly from LSV Integrity with clear instructions on what to do next.

Members will still need to link Point Lonsdale to their WWCC and keep it current, but this new system will significantly reduce the manual workload at Club level involved in verifying checks and chasing expired ones.

This is all part of improving compliance and supporting child safety organisations to keep our club safe and welcoming for everyone.

Point Lonsdale is part of the trial period before the toolkit is rolled out state-wide. If you receive a notification from LSV Integrity over the coming weeks, we would really appreciate your feedback to help refine the tool and make the process as smooth and user-friendly as possible.

In the meantime, members will still receive expiry reminder emails from the Club Office, so there may be a short period where you receive duplicate reminders.

Club Merchandise Over January

During January, all online merchandise will be held at the Clubhouse rather than being shipped. If you place an order through our online store during this period, your items will be available for collection from the Clubhouse.

This approach helps us manage orders efficiently over the busy holiday period and ensures members can collect their merchandise promptly while visiting the club.

Keeping Our Young Members Connected This Season

With the new social media restrictions for members aged 16 and under now in effect, it’s more important than ever for parents and guardians to help keep young lifesavers in the loop. These changes mean that many of our younger members won’t be able to see important updates directly through our social channels — so your support makes a huge difference.

Here’s how you can help them stay connected:

✔ Share Club Newsletters

Please pass on The Lonnie Buzz and any other Club communications so your children don’t miss key dates, opportunities, or event info.

✔ Keep an Eye on Social Media Updates

While under-16 members can’t follow our accounts, parents can stay up to date by checking the Club’s Facebook and Instagram pages and sharing any posts that may be relevant to them.

✔ Encourage them to join Team App

For patrolling updates, Nipper information, and instant notifications throughout the season, Team App is the best way for younger members to stay informed.

How to get started:

1. Download the Stack Team App from the App Store or Google Play, or visit www.teamapp.com.

2. Search for Point Lonsdale SLSC and request to join.

By staying connected through these channels, our younger members can continue to enjoy everything the Club has to offer — safely, confidently, and with all the information they need right at their fingertips.

The Club offers a range of training courses each season, based on member demand. Full course details can be found on the Club’s website. If you’d like to take part, please submit an Expression of Interest for each course you’re keen on (links are available online). Once information is confirmed, the training team will contact you with the next steps.

• Social Membership (no WWCC required) - $55

• Patrolling Membership (WWCC required) - $115

• Associate Membership (WWCC required) - $145

The SLS Hub is slightly different to the SLS Members Area, so please take your time to read the instructions before renewing.

Membership Renewal Steps

Please note that it can take 3-5 business days for your membership to be reviewed and approved. Membership is not automatically renewed upon payment.

If the system does not recognise your details, it might mean you have not created your SLS Hub account. You will need to create your account using your details exactly as they appear in your membership profile. If you are unsure, contact the Club Office.

2024/25 Member Cards Deactivated

All 2024/25 digital Member Cards have now been deactivated. To receive your 2025/26 digital Member Card, you must be a current financial member.

If you have submitted your membership renewal and have not received an email from office@plslsc.com.au with either:

• your welcome email and 2025/26 digital Member Card, or

• details of any outstanding membership requirements

please:

1. Check your junk/spam folder

2. Log in to your SLS Hub account to see if your renewal is pending

3. Contact the Club office if you’re still unsure

Please note: Patrolling members cannot patrol unless they are current financial members, and any recently completed Skills Maintenance cannot be processed until membership is finalised.

Your Digital Member Card

Once your membership renewal has been approved, you’ll receive a welcome email from office@plslsc.com.au. When you click the link to your digital Member Card (by selecting your name), your card will appear on screen.

You can:

• Save it to your phone’s notes or camera roll for quick access,

• Download PDF to print, OR

• Use your Member ID number to sign in at the Club.

Important Reminders:

• You MUST sign in when attending the Club bar or any events. This is a legal requirement to comply with our liquor licence.

• 2024/25 Member Cards have been deactivated, so please ensure your 2025/26 membership is renewed before attending any events at the Club.

Did You Know You Can Update Your Own Membership Details?

If you’ve recently moved house or changed your phone number or email address, you can update your details quickly and easily through your SLS Hub.

Simply log in, click the drop-down arrow next to your name in the top-right corner of your dashboard, and select ‘Account’ followed by ‘My Details’. Here you’ll see all your membership information, including your Working With Children Registration number and expiry date (note: these WWC details are visible but cannot be edited).

To make changes, click the edit icon in the top-right corner, update your information, and then select ‘Update’. Your request will be sent to the Club for approval.

Keeping your details current helps us stay connected and ensures you receive important Club updates.

The post with the most members in the new patrol shirt (this can be in one photo/video or multiple photos and videos)

Can’t get that many people together? Don’t worry, there’s also a prize for the most creative post featuring the 2025 uniform (as judged by the SLSA Marketing and Communications Department)
