Thank you from the Nippers Team!

Dear Nipper Parents

Thank you!

The Nipper Committee would like to thank you all for your participation in a successful 2020/2021 Nippers program. Despite all the challenges that 2020 threw at us, we had 300+ Nippers and 100 instructors and also ran a Starfish Nippers Program on the beach over 7 days which is a terrific result.

Many changes to the program were required this year to ensure a COVID safe environment and together we rose to the challenge. This was in no small part due to all the volunteers, instructors and support of the Club which made this possible.

We have received positive feedback from parents about the organisation of Nippers this year, including the advantages of having defined areas for parents and nippers, smaller groups and a focus on skills acquisition. We plan to continue these changes next year and continue to refine and improve the program.  If you have any further feedback or suggestions, please email Nippers@plslsc.com.au.

EOI Special Helpers & Age Group Managers

If you are interested in a “special helper” volunteer role for next year, please email Nippers@plslsc.com.au. Typically these roles involve multi day attendance and/or co-ordination of daily parent volunteers. For example icy pole co-ordinator, water safety, gear collection, Nippers disco and back beach day.  The Club is also on the lookout for qualified IRB drivers and crew and can provide further information on the process if this is of interest to you.

In order to run Nippers in accordance with LSV requirements, we will require more Age Group Managers next year. Unlike other Clubs, our instructors do most of the heavy lifting, so this role does not require a big commitment.  Our Age Group Managers provide general assistance to the instructors, including by taking the attendance role, counting Nippers in and out of the water, and providing encouragement and support. It is easy to become a qualified Age Group Manager – you just need to complete two short online courses (why not knock these off now while it’s fresh in your mind?) and then the Club will sign you off after a short practical session on the beach during Nippers next season. Please email Nippers@plslsc.com.au if you would like information on how to qualify as an Age Group Manager.

We would like to thank the key sponsors whose generous donations make the Nippers program what it is:

EOI Sponsors

If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities for the 2021/2022 Nippers program please email Nippers@plslsc.com.au. We have a range of sponsorship arrangements available and would be happy to discuss these with you. This is a great way to advertise your business and demonstrate support of community activities with a broad reach.

Season 2021/2022

Please monitor the Nippers page on the PLSLSC website (click on “Education”) for information on registration for the 2021/2022 program. It’s likely that, as before, registrations and swim tests must be submitted for all new and returning Nippers no later than 30 September 2021. All information will be posted on the website once available, including the Nipper calendar.

Wishing you and your families a safe and happy 2021 and we look forward to seeing your Nippers on the beach next December.

Kind regards.

Caroline Cotton, Lisa Moore, Simon Dale & Emilie Fary
