Social/Community Membership

What you need to know

The Social membership category is referred to in the National membership system as Community Member. We greatly value our Community Members and appreciate their ongoing support of the club.

Community Membership is a non-operational membership category designed for individuals who wish to stay connected and support the club without participating in patrol, training, or other active roles. Nipper parents and children under 18 years old cannot become Community members.

As a Community Member, you will receive:

  • A digital Member Card for entry when visiting Bob and Jean’s Bar

  • Discounts at the bar

  • The ability to bring up to three guests when visiting the Club

  • Regular updates, including a monthly Club Update and The Lonnie Buzz (weekly during peak season), keeping you informed about events and activities

  • The opportunity to sign up for Silver Salties activities

About your membership

  • Community Membership is a supporting membership only

  • Members are not required to hold a Working With Children Check (WWCC). As such, Community Members are not permitted to engage in activities involving children or access change room facilities.

Managing your membership

  • Each Community Member is required to maintain an individual membership profile within the Surf Life Saving system (with their own name and contact details).

  • Multiple Community Members may be managed under a Family Group for administrative convenience, allowing one Primary Contact with an SLS Hub account to manage renewals.

  • However, the Community Membership fee applies to each individual, as no family fee structure exists for this category.

  • Creating a Family Group is optional - members can choose to manage their own memberships independently, they each must have an SLS Hub account.

Changing to Community Membership
If you have previously been an Active or Associate/Nipper Parent member and would like to remain involved in a non-patrolling, support role, you can switch to Community Membership.

This change must be completed before renewing your membership, either:

  • Through your SLS Hub account, or

  • By contacting the club office for assistance
