Club Statement: COVID-19

Point Lonsdale SLSC remains committed to the safety and wellbeing of all members and staff.

In response to growing concerns over the COVID-19, the club’s Executive Committee have met to put in place protocols to reduce the spread of the virus. We also continue to receive advice from relevant health authorities, Life Saving Victoria and Surf Life Saving Australia.

As an ongoing precaution, the club has decided to close the office to members of the public for the protection of our office staff until further notice. Ronnie and Caroline will continue to work from home and be contactable via the office@plslsc.com.au email address.

With five weekends of patrol remaining, the club will continue to provide a life saving service until further notice. The club will not be hosting any public events or training until this policy is reviewed.

We request that any member who has returned from ANY foreign travel or taken a domestic flight in the past 14 days, has had any direct contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 or has developed any symptoms associated with COVID-19 not to report for patrol for the relevant quarantine period.

Additionally, if members fall into any of the below high-risk categories, we ask you to assess your need to attend at this time.

This includes persons:

  • Aged over 65 years

  • With a cardiovascular disease

  • With diabetes or high blood pressure

  • With autoimmune diseases

  • With chronic respiratory disease

A range of additional precautionary measures are in place to mitigate spread and protect the safety and wellbeing of all members, staff and visitors.

We ask that all members follow these whilst on site:

  • All members must sign-in and out

  • Use hand sanitisers and tissues provided

  • Dispose of tissues in allocated bins

  • Practice cough etiquette by coughing into your elbow as opposed to hand

  • Practice good hand hygiene, particularly prior to eating/touching your face

  • Limit direct contact including no shaking hands, high-fives, hugging and kissing.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include a dry cough, flu-like symptoms including a fever and aches and shortness of breath. If you have any of these symptoms, we recommend you call the Department of Health's Coronavirus Hotline on 1800 020 080.

We will endeavour to keep you updated as the situation continues to unfold and any advice becomes more clear. This protocol will continue to be reviewed in the interests of safety of our members.
